Achieving excellence together

We are part of the University of Brighton Academies Trust’s network of 15 academies, located across Sussex.

Encouraging happy, respectful and responsible citizens

We aim to provide an exciting and challenging curriculum in an environment which is both caring and safe.

A rich learning environment

Our children benefit from a rich and stimulating learning environment, both inside the classroom and outside.

Outside space

All classrooms benefit from an outside learning space. Our academy also has two large playgrounds, a field, a pond, woodland area and an Early Years garden.

Welcome to Blackthorns

Our focus on each individual child is at the centre of everything we do, so that every child achieves their potential and all strengths are identified and valued. We strive to work in partnership with parents, Local Board Members and pupils to create lifelong learners, giving our children the skills that they will need to be motivated and independent learners throughout their lives. Our school is a very happy, creative and stimulating environment, where children flourish academically, socially, spiritually, morally, artistically and physically. Pupils love learning through our rich, creative and exciting curriculum, which they are actively involved in planning and adapting, according to their own interests and needs.
