Blackthorns Community Primary Academy is a vibrant primary academy in the beautiful village of Lindfield with 7 classes, with just one class in every year.
As a community primary academy, our role within our local community is very important to us. Our strong relationships with parents are crucial, since it is when schools and parents work closely together that children progress best both academically and as people. Working as we do with children every day is both a responsibility and a privilege.
We have a highly skilled, passionate and dedicated team of teachers and support staff who strive for the very best for the children at our academy. This is very clear as soon as you set foot in our academy, by the wonderful and stimulating environment that is created for the children. It is always a joy to show visitors around our academy and share in some of the things that make Blackthorns such a unique and special place to learn and work.

Our Teaching and Learning
Our teachers provide high-quality learning experiences for the children with our lessons rooted in best practice to ensure successful learning can take place. Our curriculum celebrates the importance of all subjects and is broad, balanced, creative and engaging for the children. It is ambitious and progressively sequenced, enabling our pupils to build on their prior learning, applying knowledge to different contexts to demonstrate that it has been learnt.
Embedded throughout our curriculum are enrichment experiences to deepen children’s learning and to inspire them to think beyond the curriculum. These include specialist languages provision, educational trips to a variety of wonderful locations, opportunities to represent Blackthorns in a range of sporting fixtures and musical events, and opportunities to engage in fundraising activities.
Our Wraparound Care
Pioneer run our wrap-around care including a Breakfast Club which is available from 7am. Breakfast choices include a selection of cereals, crumpets, toast and fresh fruit. Children are walked across to their classes by Pioneer staff, ready for the start of the school day.
The after-school club runs until 6:30pm and there are a range of activities on offer to engage and inspire your children. All sessions are pre-planned and cater for children from Reception to Year 6.
