I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child in to Year 3.
This year the children will develop their independence and organisational skills as they move into Key Stage 2. The year will be filled with lots of opportunities and experiences; the more the children put in, the more they will get out of it. Our theme will focus on the impact the railway had on our local history and geography and we will be creating our own Great Exhibition looking at amazing inventions of the Victorian Age as well as modern day wonders.
Each week your child will be required to complete their homework which will build across the Key Stage to prepare your child for their End of Key Stage 2 Assessments. Please encourage them to hand it in on time which isTuesday for MyMaths and Wednesdays for any written outcomes, unless I put a note on the homework to tell you otherwise.
P.E will be on a Wednesday morning and swimming on a Friday, so please could you ensure that the children have the correct kit in school on these days. French and music lessons continue to be taught by Madame Robinson on Tuesday and Mrs Moffatt on Wednesdays.
Username / Passwords can be found in children’s home school diaries.
Assessment for learning:
The new National Curriculum has set out clear expectations for what children should achieve by the end of each key stage. To track pupil attainment we are using Target Tracker, a system that has devised a series of statements that allow children, teachers and parents to assess progress in their learning in line with NC requirements.
