As a Community Primary School, we are very proud of our links with the local community, particularly within our village of Lindfield.
Lindfield Arts’ Festival
The school has been delighted to perform in the annual Lindfield Arts’ Festival each year. In the past, a very large group of children have performed many different songs in All Saints Church. In 2013 the performance was in a jam-packed marquee on Lindfield Common. The children performed brilliantly, led by Mrs Moffatt and Miss Milton and we were all very proud to be a part of this village event.
Annual Lindfield Village Day
Every June we join the rest of our local community to celebrate Lindfield Village Day with a procession through the village alongside other local groups. At Blackthorns we are particularly proud of our achievements and have won 1st prize for the last eleven consecutive years. In 2013 we wowed onlookers with our ‘Bollywood’ tribute which linked to the overall theme of ‘film’.
Every year on Remembrance Sunday, representatives of the school attend the Lindfield Remembrance Service, with members of our Year 6 class reading during the service and laying a poppy wreath alongside other local community groups and schools.
Sharing our musical talent
The children of Blackthorns School are often invited to sing to members of the community, such as the Lunch Club at the United Reformed Church and at a residential home in the village.
